Best Face Photo of 2012 at I Heart Faces

This week's theme at I Heart Faces is, Best Face Photo of 2012.  I took so many images of cute little faces this year but this one is bittersweet.  I was in Honduras on a mission trip to bring encouragement to pastor's wives and also to help with a medical outreach in the villages.  One afternoon, we took the pastor's wives shopping as a treat and this little girl was the daughter of one of them.  During the bus ride to the market, she was very shy.  She continued to watch me and then gradually got braver.  She eventually popped up and over the seat of the bus to give me this little grin.  I love so much about this image.  The bus.  The way you can see hints of dirt around her mouth.  The hand of her Mama, ready in the wings to grab her if she lost her balance.  Her Mama's hand...the hand of a woman who works hard in less than optimal conditions.  But most of all, this little girl's spirit shines through.

I Heart Faces, "Summer Fun"

Photo Challenge Submission

This month's photo challenge at I Heart Faces is "Summer Fun." I took this image of my daughter at the beach after she caught her first crab and wanted to see if it would 'pinch a shell.'  She played with it for a half hour and then let it go.

I Heart Faces June Photo Challenge, "All Boy!"

Photo Challenge Submission
The June photo challenge at I Heart Faces is, "All Boy!"  I am entering this image from a candid moment that occurred during a tea party shoot I did with my kids.  My son had reluctantly agreed to participate as long as he would be rewarded with cookies.  During the shoot, he tried to sneak one...my daughter reprimanded him...and he started negotiating.  He wanted 'just one' right then and there and she was telling him he could have two...but only AFTER the shoot was over-or he was just going to ruin everything (insert lots of drama).  They were quite seriously debating this issue when I took this shot.  It still cracks me up to see it.  He is so obviously teasing her--which is what little brothers LOVE to do!  Such a BOY!

"Hey, Girl" I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

Photo Challenge Submission
"Hey, Girl!" is the photo challenge this month for I Heart Faces.  I took this shot of my girls yesterday as they walked on a trail not far from our house.  The little girls enjoy their big sister so much.  I love the look of pure adoration in their sweet faces.

"Let Them Be Little" Photo Challenge at I Heart Faces

"Let Them Be Little" is the category for this week's photo challenge on I Heart Faces! I took this photo recently of a friend's newborn. He was sleeping so sweetly. I wish they stayed small a little longer! {Although I think we could all do without the sleepless nights!}

"Raise Your Hands" at I Heart Faces

The theme for this week's photo challenge at I Heart Faces is "Raise Your Hands." I thought of this photo that I took a few weeks ago on a family outing to the beach. My youngest son got his hands covered with sand, picked up his water bottle and then wanted to put it back into the cooler with the rest of our drinks. NOT! I prefer my soda to be free of sand, thank you very much.
